The consortium is composed of a beneficiary (JCMM) and IP (CEITEC consortium), which is a highly integrated collection of public research institutions of six academic partners, all of which operate in Brno in SMR. The relationships within this consortium and the roles and obligations of each institution will be described in the Consortium Agreement concluded before the Grant Agreement is signed. The CEITEC consortium consists of:
- Masaryk University, established in 1919, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in the SMR. It comprises 10 faculties with over 200 departments, institutes, and clinics. By covering all areas of life sciences, this scientific hub offers tremendous possibilities for interdisciplinary experience and possible collaborations.
- Brno University of Technology was the first Czech higher education institution in Moravia, founded in 1849. Apart from providing education in accredited fields ranging from technical and scientific disciplines to economics and arts (8 faculties and the Institute of Forensic Engineering) and involvement in extensive scientific activities (CZK 1,5 billion of financing in 2022), an ever greater role is played by transfer of unique technologies to businesses (in association with 7 centres of excellence).
- Institute of Physics of Materials is one of the 52 institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and one of 9 located in Brno. It aims to elucidate the relationship between the behavior and properties of materials and their structural and microstructural characteristics, with particular emphasis on advanced metallic materials and composites with a metal base in relation to their microstructure and production technique.
- Mendel University’s essential feature in research is the combined application of knowledge in biological, technical, and social science disciplines in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and wood technology.
- The University of Veterinary Sciences Brno is the only university in the Czech Republic that specializes in veterinary medicine, veterinary hygiene, and ecology.
- Veterinary Research Institute Brno is the only research centre specialized in veterinary medicine in the Czech Republic and one of the few in Europe with the ability to conduct basic and applied research on all types of farm animals, with an emphasis on the control of diseases of cattle, pigs, and poultry.
