The concept of the CEITEC Postdoctoral EXperts (CEIPEX) programme is to provide an attractive environment for postdoctoral fellow mobility by focusing on a scientifically excellent and thematically compact academic research institution that has established a strong network of connections with a regional industrial sector. It is inspired by the successful EIPOD programme implemented at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. The CEIPEX programme offers postdoctoral researchers an excellent 3-year (max.) research training and career development programme in Brno in the South Moravian Region (SMR) of the Czech Republic. It incorporates key features of the MSCA concept, such as international networking, excellent and innovative research training, attractive knowledge-exchange opportunities, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility, and full-time employment with social and health security.
Similarly to EIPOD, CEIPEX builds on the foundation of interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international research excellence of the single implementing partner (IP) – the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) consortium. The CEITEC consortium, with its four universities and two research institute subjects, integrates the best of Brno’s academic research and provides a vital connection to the application sector represented by 26 associated partner (AP) companies. Furthermore, the CEIPEX programme leverages the extensive experience of the South Moravian Centre for International Mobility (JCMM) gained in implementing the previous COFUND programmes for supporting researchers in SMR, which spans over a decade.
Thus, (1) CEITEC’s research excellence, (2) JCMM’s COFUND experience, and (3) the application potential of the associated partner companies are the three pillars of CEIPEX.
